COOK ISLANDS BOWLS DUO MAKE HISTORY AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES

Cook Islands Bowls winner Taiki Paniani speaks to Cook Islands News following his historic stint alongside fellow teammate Aiden Zittersteijn. The duo competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast earlier this year and historically scored the first medal on an international level for the Cook Islands. 

Following from the games Taiki Paniani has taken singlehandedly taken out the Men’s bowling title in the Cook Islands national tournament. The 21yr old claimed the top spot after defeating Phil Urlich of Mauke. Paniani says to Cook Islands News that he an fellow bronze medalist Aiden will team up again to compete in the national Men’s pairs competition he says, “We haven’t had a lot of time together to prepare for this weekend, but no doubt we will just pick up where we left off in the Gold Coast. Having a bit of a profile now will probable mean the other teams will be gunning for us, but it will be a nice measure of where we are at and what we can focus on.”
